Barbara Borden has been drumming and playing music her whole life. A veteran of the Bay Area jazz and women’s music scene, she has performed and recorded with Alive! (eight years), Rhiannon, Terry Garthwaite, Nicholas Glover & Wray. In partnership with Sheilah Glover, she composed and recorded four albums on their own Cloud 9 Music label. Beauty in the Beat is Borden’s premier solo CD in which she plays 40 different drums and percussion instruments. Ms. Borden has been teaching drumming in Marin County for fifteen years (drumkit and West African drumming---djembe and dun dun). She continues to record and perform with others and present her one-woman show---She Dares to Drum. Most recently she has added singing and song writing to her polyrhythmic array of self-expression.
